In 2018, we were awarded a two year grant by the Illinois Council on Development Disabilities to provide training and support for Child Care Providers on the handling of challenging behaviors. Through this project we believe we can stop the growing number of children, especially those with developmental disabilities from losing their placement in their Childcare Centers. Providers do not wish to discharge children; they do so due to a lack of education and confidence in their ability to meet the child’s needs. This project will provide these skills.
